I've been trying to explain something that happened 20 years ago to anyone and everyone that I've been close to since then. I don't believe I've really had that much success even with the people that I'm the closest too. And of course my own response is the same as everyone else's: "It was personal, it's not suppose to mean anything to anyone else besides you." And I do understand that. But I've never been satisfied with it. Why wouldn't you want to talk about the most important event in your life? After reading the book, "Variations of religious experiences", by William James - what struck me the most was how similar the accounts in it were.

Where do I begin? Unfortunately, this is one of the few subjects I can honestly say that I'm an expert in. Do I state my qualification or not? How do I do that without sounding like an AA or NA lifer that drones on every meeting boasting about how much dope they did with a sick glee. No, I don't want what you have sir. Death and all the thoughts that go with it seem to be coming up a lot in my life. People talking about it, some worrying about it, some philosophizing about it - others even staring it in the face with a surprising level of courage. It's somewhat hard to tell from my inadequate mastery of the english language - that I've thrown my head into "Why the hell are we here and where are we going" type books all my life - but I have. I've taken everything with a grain of salt and highlighted in my mind the parts of various ideas that were appealing to me or weren't too ridiculous, and discarded the rest.
